Huang Lin (twitter: @Suter78058619), currently serves as CTO of Suterusu project. Huang is an applied cryptographer bytraining. Huang holds Ph.D. degrees in Applied cryptography and privacy-preserving distributed systems from ShanghaiJiao Tong University and the University of Florida, respectively. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Swiss FederalInstitute of Technology (EPFL), and then as an associate principal engineer in ASTRI, HongKong, during which he was thePIs of projects supported by million HK dollar funding. He has published over 20 papers with over 1000 citations onapplied cryptography and information security.

Beyond that we are working on expanding the reach of blockchain projects into more traditional finance areas - so definitely keep an eye on our social media for upcoming announcements.

Many users complain about the kyc process on Bittrex Global, can you help clarify what standard are required and wheremost people have failed?

bittrex Chris：

We are regulated in Liechtenstein and subject to the same standards as European banks. While this can create a bit of extra effort to create an account and onboard with us for some customers - we think the benefits customers gain far outweigh the effort. In particular, it means that users can trust that their funds are safe, that our markets are legitimate, and that they are protected from criminal activity. As blockchain becomes more mainstream this will help with adoption and benefit the entire ecosystem.

We are also working everyday to make the process more seamless and easier for our users. In particular, we are working to allowcustomers to use more IDs and more forms of simple documentation to prove identity, and we are also working on local language support to make the entire on boarding process easier for everyone.

It’s definitely the start of a Bull. We are in the calm before the storm. We see the activity in the listing market ramping up at an incredible rate and all sorts of amazing products being launched. We also see mainstream awareness and big institutional funds moving from traditional assets into crypto. So I think we are at the start of a big run. And ultimately, the technology is too big to fail。

What do you think of overall regulation development globally, and what’s the crypto market in 3-5 years to come

bittrex Chris：

Regulation is inevitable. It clears the path for safe investment by traditional financial institutions. As a result, regulation is good for everyone in the industry. We will all profit from smart regulation.

As for the next 3 to 5 years, we will see increasing adoption and more importantly, increasing use cases and blockchain technology continues to grow.

What is Suterusu? 能否介绍下什么是suterusu?

Lin CTO ：

We believe Suterusu can bring true anonymous protection on transactions and users’ data, and in the future, there are only two options on mainstream blockchain technology, one is complete transparent on-chain activities, and the other is partially or ompletely anonymous user’s data and transactions protection with Suterusu’ privacy-preserving technology in conjunction with theunderlying technologies.

Suterusu brings an unprecedented level of privacy to all the cryptocurrency in the world. It integrates a state-of-the-art trustless ZK-ConSNARK scheme with almost constant size proofs, efficient proof generation and verification. Based on our novel ZK- ConSNARK scheme, Suterusu also introduces a Suter Virtual Machine (SuterVM) that supports both anonymous payment schemes for smart contract platforms such as Ethereum and anonymous BTC cross-chain transfer module.

Various sophisticated privacy-preserving DeFi functionalities such as collateral, Lending, DEX can be built on top of the technical modules provided by the SuterVM. To ensure the decentralization degree and responsiveness of our protocol, we adopt a novel on-chain governance mechanism, i.e., liquid decentralized meritocracy. In a word, Suterusu is an innovative privacy-protection protocol built on solid technology.

简单讲，Suterusu是基于可靠技术的创新型隐私保护协议。能够让所有的主流区块链交易变成隐私交易保护用户数据和资产安全，我们认为隐私是用户的权利而不是一种选择。

未来在公链上只有两种模式，一种是透明的交易，看到交易双方的所有数据，另外一种是使用了Suterusu智能合约的隐私交易，保证用户的交易安全。

Suterusu为现有的虚拟货币带来了前所未有的隐私保护。它集成了最先进的无需可信初 始化的ZK-ConSNARK方案，该方案证明所占空间几乎为常数的，且其证明的生成和验 证都极为高效。在我们新提出的零知识证明方案基础上，Suterusu还推出了支持智能合 约区块链的(如以太坊)隐私支付方案和比特币跨链匿名支付方案的Suter虚拟机 (SuterVM)。基于Suter虚拟机提供的技术模块，可以打造多种隐私保护的DeFi功能，比如抵押贷款，借贷及去中心化的交易所。为了保证我们协议的去中心化程度和响应灵敏度，Suterusu引入了流动性去中心化选贤制。

Can you share more technical updates from Suteursu,

能够分享一下近期Suterusu的技术进展吗？

Lin CTO ：

我们最近发布了suterusu的测试协议。主要包含有如下几个功能

1.无需可信初始化的零知识证明，我们知道需要可信初始化的零知识证明方案在初始化过程中会涉及到一些陷? 知识，这个 有点类似于签名方案中的私钥。我们知道签名方案的私钥一旦泄漏，攻击者就可以使用私 钥生成无限数量的合法签名。

如果把这种情况映射到零知识证明中，这种陷阱? 信息被盗意味着攻击者可以生成无限量 的合法零知识证明。在Zcash这样的加密货币方案中，零知识证明是用于证明货币的所有 权和合法性，以便能够生成无限量的合法零知识证明，这种攻击意味着对手可以打印无限 数量的数字货币而无法被检测到。

尽管安全多方计算协议可以减轻可信初始化的影响，但没有从根本上解决这个问题。它仍然仅提供一个非常有限的安全级别，因为MPC协议有 可能会引入额外的漏洞，而且它最终仍是由有限的几方运行。

最后，此测试协议中使用的零知识证明方案到安全性规约到标准离散对数假设上，这也是很 多在实践中广泛部署的各种密码方案的底层假设，因此我们方案的安全性基础非常牢固。

2.针对智能合约平台的匿名支付方案，目前市场上实现的通用匿名支付方案主要是服务于1层隐私硬币，例如zkash的zk-snark 或monero的环形保密交易等。一个智能合约平台的匿名支付方案和用于第1层隐私硬币的 方案差别在于:很多UTXO模型的第1层隐私硬币，他们往往使用数字承诺方案来保护交易中涉及金额。 如果接收者无法打开数字承诺，仅仅意味着以后无法使用这个UTXO帐户。因此，在 UTXO模型下，发送方在向接收方发送与转账对应的密钥时，通常不需要提供零知识证明 即可证明加密后的秘密合法性。

在基于帐户的模型中，所有转账金额最终都汇总到一个用户帐户中。因此，在该模型下， 即使有一次打开帐户接收到的转账金额的随机密钥不合法，就意味着该帐户的所有其他转 入金额都不能再使用了，因为聚合后的随机密钥无法用于打开相应的密文。

因此，需要用于智能合约平台的匿名支付方案提供零知识证明来证明所加密账户密钥的合 法性，来避免上述问题。这也意味着我们需要分别更改相应的转账一致性证明和范围证 明;Test protocol的匿名支付库为智能合约平台提供了转账一致性证明和范围证明。(转账一致性 证明是指转账交易中输入金额与输出金额之和相等。范围证明是指转账所涉及的金额属于 正确的范围，因此可以确保攻击者无法发起攻击以凭空印刷苏特币。)

最近，我们推出了一个去中心化隐私交易平台的产品，Suter Trade。该产品目前在测试阶段，支持合成资产的隐私交易和现货产品的的隐私交易。用户可以通过质押Suter 代币来交易合成资产，并且可以通过为流动性池子提供流动性来进行挖矿，对Suterusu的生态发展起了很大的作用。另外我们还发布了一些有关Suter虚拟机和链上管理机制的说明书。大家可以在 medium上看到这些文章。

1. Efficient zero-knowledge proofs without trusted setupThe trusted setup step of a zero-knowledge proof scheme involves trapdoor information, which is equivalent to the private key in asignature scheme. We know that once the private key of a signature scheme is stolen, an attacker can use the private key to generate an unlimited amount of legitimate signatures.

If we map it to the case of zero-knowledge proof, this kind of trapdoor information being stolen means that an attacker can generate unlimited amounts of legitimate zero- knowledge proofs. In a cryptocurrency scheme such as Zcash, zero-knowledge proof is used to the ownership and legitimacy of the currency, to be able to generate an unlimited amount of legal zero-knowledge proofs means the adversary can print unlimited amounts of currency without the possibility of being detected.Although running a secure multi-party computation protocol can mitigate the impact of trusted setup, it doesn’t really solve the problem. It still only provides a very limited security level since MPC might introduce extra vulnerability and in the end it is still run by a few parties.

In addition, the existing zero-knowledge proof schemes with trusted setup are based on non-standard assumptions proposed veryrecently. Their security has not been fully tested in practice. There are also lots of controversies regarding their security level inthe mathematician community. So even from a purely mathematical perspective, the security of these zero-knowledge proof schemes remain questionable.

The zero-knowledge proof implemented by Suter 1.0 does not require a trusted setup. All the parameters involved in the setup step are randomly chosen from the corresponding group through a transparent process. The implementation of our zero- knowledgeproof algorithm is in the public repository, Anyone can verify this by checking our code.

Lastly, the zero-knowledge proof scheme used in this test protocol is based on a standard discrete logarithm assumption, which is also the underlying assumption of various cryptographic schemes that have been widely deployed in practice, so the security groundof our scheme is very solid.

2. Anonymous payment for Smart Contracts platforms At present, the implementation of the general anonymous payment scheme in the market mainly aims to serve the layer-1 privacy coin, such as zk-snark for zcash or ring confidential transaction for monero, etc. The main difference between an anonymouspayment implementation for a smart contract platform and that for layer-1 privacy coin is: For the layer-1 privacy coin with an UTXO model, a digital commitment scheme is used to protect the transferred amount in a transaction. If a recipient cannot open the digital commitment, it only means that specific UTXO account cannot be used later.

Therefore, under the UTXO model, the sender usually does not need to provide a zero-knowledge proof to prove the legitimacy of the encrypted secret when sending the secret key corresponding to the encrypted amount to the recipient.

While in the account-based model, all the transfer amounts are eventually aggregated into one user account. Therefore, under this model, even if the random key of one encrypted transfer amount received by an account cannot be opened once, it would imply that all the other incoming amounts of the respective account cannot be used anymore, because the random key after aggregation cannot be used to open the corresponding ciphertext. .

Therefore, the anonymous payment scheme for the smart contract platform is required to provide zero-knowledge proof for the encryption of the account key to mitigate the aforementioned problems. This also implies we need to change the corresponding transfer consistency proof and range proof respectively; The anonymous payment library for the test protocol provides transfer consistency proof and range proof for the smart contract platforms. (The transfer consistency proof means that the sum of the input amounts and that of the output amounts is equal in a transfer contract. The range proof means that the amount involved in a transfer belongs to the correct range, and hence ensure that the attacker cannot launch an attack to print Suter coins out of thin air.)

Recently, we launched Suter Trade, a decentralized privacy-preserving trading platform product. The product is currently in the testing phase and it supports anonymous transactions for synthetic assets and spot products. Users can mortgage Suter tokens to trade synthetic assets and can mine sUSD by providing liquidity to the liquidity pool. This product will play a central role in the Suterusu ecosystem. The general idea is partially inspired by the wrapped BTC framework. Our system also relies on a consortium of asset custodians and merchants who work together to map the user’s Bitcoin to sBTC token on Sutersmart contract. However, the major difference between our design and theirs is that we leverage our zk-conSNARK technology to preserve the anonymity of BTC cross-chain transfer while privacy is not the major concern of the wrapped BTC framework.

The general idea is that a user will run an anonymous atomic swap protocol with the merchant to exchange his/her Bitcoin asset with the merchant’s sBTC tokens. In a separate procedure, the merchant will initiate a minting transaction with an asset custodian, who will then create a sBTC tokens minting contract after receiving equal amounts of BTCs from the merchant. The sBTC tokens can be transferred privately between different merchants. The user can also exchange his/her sBTC tokens with a merchant for equal amounts of BTCs. Since all the BTCs are eventually held by the asset custodian, the merchant and asset custodian need to run a burn contract every now and then so that sBTC token balance of the merchant’s account will be reduced in exchange for the asset custodian sending equivalent amounts of BTC to the merchant’s BTC address.

The Suter anonymous payment functionality will be invoked to guarantee transactional confidentiality during the token minting, transfer, and burning process. Since the exchange of BTC held by the users and the sBTC token held by Merchant requires an anonymous atomic swap, the anonymous multi-hop locks (AMHL) technique proposed in the whitepaper can be applied to guarantee the privacy of this process.

The closest project to Suterusu is Tornado.cash, which is an anonymous payment layer for the Ethereum ecosystem. Our ZK-ConSNARK is superior in the following aspects:

1.Tornado’s solution does not provide transaction amount confidentiality. Our scheme provides transaction amount confidentiality while preserving the sender and receiver anonymity.

2.Tornado’s implementation is based on ZK-SNARK, which is the underlying technology for Zcash, and hence requires a trusted setup. As mentioned in the above, our scheme does not require a trusted setup, and hence is much more secure and transparent.

3.Finally, our anonymous payment protocol for smart contract platforms is universal, meaning it is not just applicable to the Ethereum platform but any smart contract platforms.

4.Our Suter VM also provides anonymous BTC cross-chain functionality that will bring more liquidity to our ecosystem.

5.Since our anonymous payment scheme supports both smart contract platforms and BTC cross-chain transfer, more sophisticated privacy-preserving Defi functionality can be built upon the aforementioned technical modules.
