AKT, has been officially launched on BHEX on 2nd June, In order to let everyone get a better idea about the project, today we have Akash CEO Greg here to discuss Akash project in depth with us.

Elsa: First of all, would you please introduce Akash project and your team to us？

Cheng:The cloud infrastructure market is projected to be $370 billion by 2023. Cloud infrastructure -- the backbone of the Internet -- is increasingly becoming centralized, with 70% of the market controlled by an oligopoly of four companies (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba).

Akash's mission is to break this oligopoly using a decentralized network of computing clusters (data centers), and offering resources in a peer-to-peer marketplace to build resilient and unstoppable applications at 2x-3x less than what you would pay in the market today.

I founded Akash with Adam Bozanich, Akash's CTO. We're both open-source developers and have contributed open-source libraries adopted by organizations including Ubuntu, HashiCorp, and Kubernetes

Boz Menzalji, our Chief Operations Officer has seen two acquisitions and previously was General Manager at Refereum, a blockchain-based gaming rewards and marketing platform. Prior to Refereum, Boz led business development for multiple SaaS startups (gaming, agriculture tech, martech and fintech), including Paydici, a billing and payments platform.

Maly Ly, our Chief Growth Officer, has accelerated growth, brand awareness and customer acquisition for companies including Eventbrite, AdRoll, Relativity Space, Lucasfilm / Disney, and Nintendo. She has scaled three early stage startups to profitability and unicorn status ( $1+ billion market cap).

Finally it is me: Cheng Wang, Akash CFO, has spent nearly a decade of career in traditional finance with extended tenures with Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs before joining WRKSHP, a gaming startup, and Refereum, a premier blockchain startup.

With limited options for developers/organizations, we envisioned a world where cloud computing is permissionless, sovereign, and open, where developers and organizations can have greater freedom, flexibility, and sovereignty to create and grow, becoming truly unstoppable.

Elsa: Could you please share about how the Akash works？

Cheng:Akash taps into underutilized cloud capacity across 8.4 million data centers around the world. An estimated 85% of global cloud capacity remains unused today. At Akash, users set the price they’re willing to pay and the network optimizes for the lowest cost possible for the application to function. Along with a novel subsidy model, this pricing mechanism is projected to reduce cloud computing costs 2x-3x.

Elsa: What is the role of AKT in the Akash Network?

Cheng:AKT is the platform’s native utility token, used as the primary means to govern, secure the blockchain, incentivize participants, and provide a default mechanism to store and exchange value. There are 4 main functions of AKT.

**Governance-** AKT token holders can vote on network upgrades, and allocation of the Decentralized Cloud Foundation’s funds and resources.

**Incentivization -** AKT is used to incentivize providers to offer lower prices, and incentivizes stakers to participate in the network longer term by staking.

**Value Exchange -** AKT provides a default mechanism to store and exchange value, and acts as a reserve currency in Cosmos' multi-currency and multi-chain ecosystem.

**Take Income** - Once the network achieves more significant gross merchandise value (GMV), rewards will comprise inflationary rewards and include a share of the total network spend (Take Income) users pay.

Elsa: Who has Akash partnered with?

Cheng:**Helium** - We will be providing a decentralized, open-source, and low-cost cloud alternative for Helium’s new blockchain validators.

**Certik** - CertiK’s clients are able to decentralize their cloud infrastructure on Akash’s permissionless, censorship-resistant, and lower cost open-source cloud platform, while ensuring on-chain protection backed by CertiK’s trusted products and services.

**Solana** - Akash users will be able to run secure and scalable smart contracts on Solana’s hyper-performance platform and pay using Akash Token (AKT). Solana’s users will be able to run distributed applications (like machine learning or web apps) and settle using Solana Token (SOL) on Akash.

**Kava -** Through our integration of Kava's USDX, Akash will become the first decentralized cloud platform to have a stablecoin, allowing cloud providers to avoid the market volatility of cryptocurrency, and developers to pay for cloud computing using USDX. This integration strengthens AKT's liquidity and provides Akash users with a stable medium of exchange, while achieving greater adoption for Kava's stablecoin and an increased debt ceiling from AKT collateral.

**Chainlink -** We're integrating with Chainlink, the market-leading decentralized oracle network. By integrating with Chainlink, we're able to ensure that Akash’s users have access to the most secure and accurate price data available.

**Cosmos / Tendermint** - Akash is bringing serverless computing to Cosmos, and better enabling the builders of today and tomorrow. With Akash, anyone with a computer can become a cloud provider by offering their unused compute cycles in a safe and frictionless marketplace.

**IBC** - ICF awarded Akash with a grant to build and maintain the IBC Relayer. Essential to launching the IBC protocol and the only way users will be able to use IBC, the Relayer is the user interface that enables all transfers and transactions on IBC.

Elsa: What is Akash's role inside the cosmos ecosystem?

Cheng:Tendermint attracted us because of its flexibility as a library with a modular and pragmatic design. We chose to build on Tendermint because of its iteration speed and community momentum. As a Go library, it was a natural fit in our stack.

One of the most exciting aspects of being a part of the Cosmos ecosystem is Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) Protocol.? The implementation and adoption of IBC within the Cosmos ecosystem will allow more projects to directly interact with Akash Network and host their nodes and other applications on Akash DeCloud. With IBC, Akash will reduce the barrier to adoption by allowing other currencies to access our cloud compute marketplace and pay for cloud compute.

Elsa: What interesting projects have you seen built on Akash and what would you like to see built on top of Akash?

Elsa: Any exciting news recently you can share with us?

Cheng:We’re very excited to share that Osmosis, the first AMM for Cosmos ecosystem is launching with $AKT / $ATOM pair on June 17. This will be Akash's first decentralized exchange (DEX) offering and will substantially increase access to AKT token. This is great for a number of reasons. First, we are significantly increasing access to AKT by enabling ATOM holders the ability to swap their ATOM for AKT. Secondly, we increase the incentives to buy and hold AKT by incentivizing liquidity pools with OSMO for offering their AKT to the pool.

We also recently welcomed billionaire and the NFL's Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta to the Akash Network as an investor and validator. We’ll be exploring migration of his business empire’s cloud computing needs to Akash.

1、How does Akash's decentralized computing cluster (data center) network establish relationships with governments of various countries? Will it be subject to the supervision of governments of various countries?

答：To answer your question here, the AKASH network will not be subject to any government restrictions because our machines can be anywhere in the world. Because AKASH actually doesn't physically own any of the machines on the network, anyone in the world can function as providers.
