That said, “Mayday” to foreigners is an international code for Distress Call when facing life threatening situation such as an imminent plane crash or sinking ship. It is also used by firemen, policemen and other transportation organization. The “Mayday” code was originated in 1921 in London coming from a French word “M’aider” meaning “help me”. So be very careful when you address to a foreigner “ I wish you a Happy Mayday”[微笑]
